on their way in, but taking a
low-percentage running shot
at 450 yards was nothing more
than another hunter education
lesson. After waiting for those
coyotes to disappear over the
far horizon I went to check my
prize.
That’s when I noticed a fourth
coyote. Even in full sight of
me the coyote was trotting in,
likely looking for its partner.
Dropping to one knee I barked
to confuse the coyote. Not only
did I confuse it, I lured it. It
started running and at 50 yards I
smacked a double.
Lesson learned: Public-land coyotes
require a novel and original
approach. Think outside the box.
